I bought Sebastian Dark Oil after seeing countless reviews about it. So many people raving about it, so many recommendations — I eventually gave in. My expectations were high, precisely because of all the buzz.
I used it for over a month, every time I washed my hair. I tested it on dry hair and on wet hair, but neither way worked for me. The problem was the weight. I'd apply it and my hair would feel so weighed down that I instantly wanted to wash it again. That kind of feeling is a clear sign to me that a product just isn't right for my hair.
My hair isn't thick, and I think that makes all the difference here. An oil this concentrated probably needs a strand that can handle more — one that absorbs without getting overwhelmed. On mine, it just didn't work that way.
I'd recommend it to anyone with really thick hair, genuinely coarse strands. For that type, it might make perfect sense. For my hair, it wasn't a good buy.
